You are great!

I don’t know your age, your race, your gender, your background, your passions, I really don’t know anything about you.  Here is what I do know though. You are great and you have the ability to make other people great. People need you now more than ever to help them realize their own potential and be even greater.  You possess that power to help them do that.  Maybe you are a parent, a manager (leader), a spouse, a friend, a colleague, a Facebook friend, a twitter follower, etc. Whatever the relationship is with you and someone else, you have the power and ability to influence them and make a difference.

As an executive and a thought leader I sometimes devalue my own ability because I don’t see my abilities as being different from anyone else’s.  Maybe you do the same thing.  We look at things through our own eyes, and you and I have been looking at things through our eyes of greatness for so long, that we don’t even realize how great the things we say and do are. Instead we tend to not share our greatness.  We instead keep it to ourself.  We say things like, “Oh someone else is already doing that.” “I don’t have anything to add”, “It has already been done.”

What if Steve Jobs would have said that about the MP3 player.  It is already been done. Why would we try to create that product any differently. There wouldn’t have been an iPod and ultimately and iPhone and iPad.   What if Martin Luther King Jr. would have taken the stance of “I have nothing else I can say or add to this conversation?”  Sure, he was prolific in his own right, but there were others before him that said what he said as well. These are two examples of people who didn’t necessarily know at the early stages that what they were doing was going to be that life changing.  They were just speaking from the heart and doing what they thought was great.  Ultimately, those things turned into greatness that changed the world.

Sometimes we don’t know or don’t consider our own greatness or we think that what we do is what ever one else does.  The chances are if you are reading this blog that it is definitely not the case.  Like I said at the beginning of this blog, you are great, it is your duty to inspire others to be great.  Don’t let the fact that you have always looked at life and approached life with greatness prevent you from sharing with others your greatness.

To your success and your future.
