Do you have any problems? Oh wait a minute! In our culture to take the positive spin. We say what are some opportunities you have? But for the sake of this blog post and for the sake of my sanity, I am going to call it what it is. Which it is a problem.
We all have problems don’t we? Maybe your kids are not behaving. Your spouse isn’t supportive. You have more month left at the end your money. Your boss is a jerk. Your car keeps breaking down. I could go on an on, about problems we all have. I could ask you this question in person and you may give me a very exhaustive list.
How do you solve your problems? I believe you can ask three questions when it comes to solving a problem.
1st: What can I do differently? Can you be objective in your own thinking? I recently was doing some training and a very attentive and a good class participant asked me a question. She said “what is the number 1 thing you see as the biggest challenge for us.” I told her that she probably wouldn’t like my answer. And then I said: Your biggest challenge is “The four inches between your two ears is your biggest challenge.” We all get into our own head and either create problems or prevent ourselves from solving our own problems. And guess what? My biggest challenge is there to. There are always answers to our problems (except some health issues) but we just have to do something differently to resolve our own problems.
2nd: Who could I ask that could help me solve this problem? This is an easy place to start. Now be sure you ask someone who has earned the right to provide you an answer to your problem. Dont go ask someone who is broke about your finances. Don’t ask someone whose kids hate them parenting advice. Ask someone who has a good track record in what ever you need help with. Don’t be afraid to ask either. Don’t let your ego prevent you from asking. Solving the problem is what is important, not your ego.
3rd: What could I read? When it comes to problems there is a high likelihood that there is a book that has been written on it. Nowadays, there may be a blog (maybe this one), a Vlog (video blog), a YouTube video, etc. We have so much access to information now, that there is no reason we can’t find some possible solutions to our problems. We just have to be willing to go and find the information.
What are some of the problems you are faced with right now? Looking at the three questions above, which one makes the most sense to you right now to help solve the problem? I would love to hear your story and how you applied this concept today. Please shoot me an email and let me know what you did.
Albert Einstein said this: “We can’t solve our problems with the same thinking that we used when we created them.”
To your success and your future.
